Big decisions for a big lesbian… and her dog.

POST SCRIPT: The glitch of static you hear at around 5:00 is the result of yet another glitch in Ableton Live. The glitch is nowhere to be found in my source project yet when ableton rendered the .aiff file, it was created.

Ableton has really been fucking up my shit lately. My last two podcasts had to be redone multiple times to do total crashes of the software. I created tech support cases and Ableton has not responded to me at all other than assigning me a case number. I have tweeted at them with no reply other than i should contact tech support (which I have already done of course.)

I have used Ableton since version 4 in 2005. THe company was always responsive and helpful…. until now.

This is how desperate I am- that I have to complain about them in my podcast blog in the hopes of finding a solution.

Sad what happens to some companies when they achieve financial success. 🙁

really enjoyed the grum Madge-stein! it seems things are on the up and up for you. i see great things coming your way in… septembie!

I appreciate these more personal grums, Madge. We all go through tough times, but your philosophy of appreciating the moment for what it is, makes sense to me. Keep your chin up, pickle!!

I also enjoy these personal grums the most! I really like the idea of 2 or 3 short 30 minute shows a week. They are easy to listen to, and the regularity is nice. Dont get me wrong, I like the 2 hour shows with Cheryl, but those shows tend to sit in my library a long time before I get around to enjoy them.
I can relate totally to what you say about not being able to type! I have noticed the same thing ever since I turned 40! The god damn typos are ridiculous. Ig glad i’m not the only one. I thought maybe I had ALS or something.
Regarding not saving money and living for the now, dont feel bad. I am in the same boat. I make six figures and I live paycheck to paycheck. It aint easy in NYC. There is nothing wrong with living that way, I done it my whole life. BUT (again after I turned 40) now I notice I am starting to worry about getting older, and the inevitable health problems that come with getting older. I mean, when your young and have your health you can always work and make money. But what happens when we get older and sick and cant earn the same money we always did? Depend on Social Security? Yea were all fucked.
Well, sorry for the long ass post

What the fuck is going on with that Ableton-buisnatch? I always thought Ableton Live was prosumer-software, but this sounds more like a lousy bugged and untested beta-version of a well intended yet not fully thought-through progrum. You’ll end up recording with Audacity as a more reliable option…

I have the same anxieties about the future. I have no health insurance. I have no retirement (beyond Social Security, which LOLZ). It seems like all I do is work and/or do things that *might* help me get paid in the future. There’s no time to relax.

The problem with our country as I see it: Americunts have no understanding of what “quality of life” means. They think that if they’ve got fast food and a big-screen TV with 500 channels, they’re doing well. They have no idea of how people live in other countries because Americunts are uneducated and they never see any images of life outside the U.S. except for when bad shit goes down, usually in places full of “terrorists.” The media, and more importantly, the corporations that control it, have them brainwashed into believing it’s “America, fuck yeah!” all the way into everything forever. Who cares if there’s no health care or retirement funds now? We’re all gonna be rich someday because TV tells us we will be!

I have an Australian friend who’s currently in the middle of a three-month PAID vacation in Europe. He’s not a CEO. He’s not even a college graduate. He’s a commuter train driver.

He also recently had some medical problems that involved an ambulance ride and at least one trip to the hospital. He didn’t have to pay for any of those medical services. He received proper care and treatment and made a full recovery. Oh yeah. He also didn’t have any trouble getting sick leave from work.

I know many Americunts would read that and respond, “NO! SOCIALISM BAD!” but here’s the thing. My Australian friend ALSO has access to fast food and a nice TV with 500 channels. Now that’s what I call quality of life.

Shawn your right. Americans are self absorbed and brainwashed from the beginning to chase something that doesnt exist. The American dream is dead, perhaps it never was a reality in the first place. We are now a nation of consumers. Cunsumerism is what drives this country. There is nothing being manufactured here anymore. Ask the average college kid why he is in school; his answer will be to get a high paying job. Since when did making money become the purpose of education? What about learning things for the sake of learning them? I know, thats kind of hard if your studying a dry boring subject like economics or management. Well Im a fine art major so thats just my opinion.
But there is more to this life then selling products to consumers. And it seems like the whole american culture is built on that. Americans are a nation of consumers, and most of us have jobs that feed that system of cunsumerism one way or another. And the schools support that: get a degree = make more money.

One can make a choice to live outside that system, but its a tough road with little financial rewards.

sorry to hear about your abletron, a friend of mine “Farka” had similar problems, he went out and picked up a free copy of Logic Pro from demonoid.me and swears by it, with the money he saved he purchased a slice of chocolate velvet cake from starbucks and shared it with me, I had a soy latte to go with, the soy bloated me, I should have had a tea, Farka had a mint tea but it smelt funny to me like lentils, I didn’t mention it to Farka and on Tuesday of last week Farka passed a baby chicken from his arsing hole.
Farka has used Logic 17 times now and tells me that it shits on Abletron.
Go and treat yourself over at demonoid.me to logic you gorgeous lesbian.
