This is wonderful news – a true testament to the power of the internet and the power of advocacy. Governor Perry deserves a huge thanks for “doing the right thing” as does the the Texas State Board of Pardons and Parole since their 6-1 recommendation represents a departure from “business as usual”.

I didn’t realize that while his death sentence was commuted, that Kenneth Foster is still not a free man; according to news reports he will now serve a life sentence and not be eligible for parole until 2036. Somehow, being made to serve a life sentence for a crime one didn’t commit also doesn’t seem fair. I hope he fights that too.
Great to hear the efforts of so many finally paid off. If even Texas was willing to revoke a death sentence there must have been a huge response, probably thanks to the podcasters giving it attention.
Wow, I guess writing letters DOES work. *wipes more shit off brow*

perry doesn’t deserve our thanks. he’s just responding to political pressure. the people that pushed him to do the right thing deserve thanks.

Thanks Madge… I didn’t realize that he had committee other felonies. Seems like life is the best he can hope for. At least a senseless murder was averted.

He committed several other felonies during his group’s ‘crime spree’.
