best guess is yr show notes fuck up in browsers because the strange characters are being served as straight utf-8 characters rather than as HTML entities e.g. • ✓
if u grab the source of the page in NetNewsWire you can see them as entities. copy and paste this into a test HTML doc and open it in yr favourite browser and it works.

Are u using a web interface?
Do you submit the blog and rss stuff seperately?
Do you see the actual HTML entities in the stuff you paste into a FORM or are they the entity characters? If they’re entity characters there’s yr problem.
It’s possible it’s yr browser. Have you tried another?
Of course it could be yr service providers submission process screwing things up by not supporting entities but translating and publishing them as utf-8 chars.
