Episode Highlights:

1. Political Rant & Reflections – The duo dives into a passionate political discussion, touching on current U.S. politics, polling biases, and their disbelief over certain political figures’ prominence. Auntie Vera expresses frustration with the political climate, while Madge shares her own perspectives on the state of the nation.

2. Podcasting Journey and Reflections – Auntie Vera reflects on her years in podcasting, explaining why she eventually stepped away after losing the joy and creative energy it once brought her. Madge relates, expressing some bitterness over podcasting’s commercialization and her refusal to adapt to video formats or platforms like YouTube. They both reminisce about the early days of podcasting and how it has evolved, or “devolved,” in recent years.

3. Memories & Old Friends – Vera and Madge recall fond memories of shared friends, past shows, and humorous moments from their early podcasting days. 5. Rants on Grocery Store Frustrations – Both Madge and Auntie Vera share anecdotes of recent frustrating experiences at grocery stores, complete with commentary on their own reactions. Madge hilariously recounts a “Karen” moment at Mariano’s grocery store, where her tight schedule and impatience led to a meltdown. Auntie Vera listens and offers sage advice on managing expectations and reflecting on personal growth, even in minor everyday annoyances.

6. Future of Podcasting & Content Creation – Wrapping up, they contemplate the future of podcasting and content creation. Madge discusses her recent explorations on TikTok, finding a new audience for her political rants, while Vera expresses disinterest in platforms beyond traditional audio formats. They both lament the decline of audio-only content and the rise of video-dominated “podcasts.”

Key Takeaways:

• Insightful and often comedic reflections on the evolution of podcasting and staying relevant as platforms change.

• Raw political commentary with a mix of frustration and hope.

• Humor-infused wisdom on relationships, aging, and the importance of self-awareness.

• Lighthearted yet relatable rants about modern life annoyances, from grocery store lines to credit card machines.

I fucking loved this podcast so much, Madge. It was like therapy. I’m 34 and yet I resonated a lot with what both of you gals had to say. I’ve been listening to most everything you’ve put out since – must be – 2005, 2006 I think. You’ve been one of the steadily ever-present gay voices in my life and you’ve both (Vera’s podcast as well) been hugely impactful in my gay little life and its awakening. Purely selfishly, I want your podcast to always be around, but in a way it sort of will, because like Vera I quote stuff from your show all the time, from your analysis of US politics to (and most especially) cycles from a fucking age ago. I can go “ANGELS!” to one of my friends (who doesn’t so much as listen to podcasts let alone yours,) and she will instantly know to go “SO AMAZING!” and so many other things besides. Thank you so much for all you’ve done and meant to my stupid little life and I hope very much that I can leech off a little more of your dark art in the years to come. Love you forever.

(I wanna send something similar to Vera too but I don’t really know how best to get to her.)

loved the grum Maydge.
I also feel like Delta Work stole Vera’s career

this was like being transported back in time
never leave us

It’s good to know that you’re still friends with Vera. This brought back happy memories and I hope you can chat with previous guests of the show before you retire. You have made your mark on many people in ways that f.o.f. will never come close to.

I’ve been listening to this show since at least 2008 and never stopped. I heard every episode, watched every video and recording. I regularly re-listen to old shows. I listened to all of Whorehole, Church of Debra and Eat This Hot Show.

It’s all terrible and god awful, and this episode is the worst one!! Auntie Vera is way too thankful in this one, she is unbearable. The episode hardly had technical issues and Madge didn’t fart (I listened several times to make sure).

I still feel the best episode is right around the corner (usually by the 30-year mark things pick-up, like it did for General Hospital and SNL). Until then I will re-listen to all of Yeast with the audio reversed as I have a gut feeling that it is the best way to experience the show.

I will keep you all informed on my findings,

Sincerely,
Suken Gagoncoc

Just started listening to this one, a few days after the orange turd was elected. I’ve been listening for twenty years, and will need your great content more than ever to get through the next four. ‘Hold on’ Madge. We appreciate you.
