YR1570 What to Do?

Per Madge’s request I’ll leave my thoughts on this grummage/my response to Madge and Mark here:

I understand and sympathize with the people who are in these awful places and situations. But seeing as I cannot do anything about it why should I get myself upset? Wouldn’t peoples’ quality of life improve if instead of focusing on global issues they can’t change they focused on improving their immediate life?

I’m upset that the constant media presence has maliciously led civilians to believe “You the little guy matter! Your voice, and pocketbook, can play a role in these global conflicts!” It’s a deflection tactic to cover for the fact that the real players on the global stage aren’t really doing jack-shit.
I think that if people didn’t dedicate brainpower, and weren’t constantly bombarded with these global goings on, they’d most likely be happier. Why stress yourself out with who’s blowing up whom thousands of miles away? Why should the majority of people focus on these things which really don’t have any direct consequence on their lives?
And before you say “Well it does have a direct consequence! Look at the price of gas!” That’s an entirely different topic, although not less upsetting. Misguided comments about the price of goods should be instead directed towards unregulated corporate greed.
