You’re suspicions are correct. The feature you’re discussing is nothing new to TiVo. It was added to the TiVo 2 (and 3) boxes maybe a year and a half ago. And you’re right… the method for setting it up is Painful. Painful. And I never understood the concept of using your television for audio podcasts/radio/etc. that doesn’t require a screen. They also offer games and other crap. It would be interesting to see how many people use the service. Did I mention it is… painful. Uggh.

Makes me wonder if the PodShow announcement is really something else, yet to be released by TiVo. (Their updates are released in waves, not to every box at once.)

Jason wasn’t the murderer in Friday the 13th. It was his mother, played by the lovable Betsy Palmer in a trainwreck of a performance: http://www.pitofhorror.com/media/video/pamuncut.mpg

Madge, you mentioned “satellite” regarding a channel lineup change on Holly’s TiVo. If this TiVo is part of those made for DIRECTV, then the service may not work at all. Most of those “DirecTiVos”, with built in tuners don’t have the Ethernet ports enabled, or don’t have the ports at all. Dial-up connectivity is the only option. If Holly’s TiVo is a standalone (e.g. she uses a converter box as well) then she has a Series 2 and should have Ethernet access. The Series 3s, I’m told, do not have connections for satellite service and only work with cable/cablecards.
