Holy SHIT!
Select the items on your playlist, right click, select GET INFO, then check yes on REMEMBER POSITION and no on SKIP WHEN SHUFFLING. This will upload your podcasts to your shuffle on autofill.
Apple is under the impression that podcasts are so long, you won’t want them to autofill on your tiny shuffle and take up all the room.
