URGENT: DRM Attack on Podcasters! Must not ignore!

“Joe Biden, Dianne Feinstein, and two GOP senators are sponsoring a bill called the PERFORM Act that would require podcasts with music and satellite radio to be locked-up with music industry-approved DRM software. From the article: ‘All audio services — Webcasters included — would be obligated to implement “reasonably available and economically reasonable” copy-protection technology aimed at preventing “music theft” and restricting automatic recording.’”

JOE BIDEN AND DIANNE FEINSTEIN, ARE SELL-OUT ASSHOLES. LET THEM KNOW THEIR POLITICAL CAREERS ARE RUINED IF THEY CONTINUE SUCKING THE RIAA’S WART-RIDDEN COCK!

Exactly, Biden and Feinstein are sell-outs.

And therein lies the problem.

The RIAA gives them a lot of campaign contributions. Money talks. And the podcasting community will never be able to compete with that.

Far better to fight for REAL campaign finance reform. Until that happens, the RIAA’s and the Wal-Marts of the world will always win out.

As our RIAA friends, Metallica, say: “You know, it’s sad, but true. . .”

    I believe publicly financed “clean elections” are the way to go.
    
    Bottom line, if you combined the Bluestein and Huygens fortunes together, we still could not match the amount of money special interests, like the RIAA gives to candidates.
    
    In reality it is “pay to play”
    
    Publicly financed elections cleans the slate.

The only reason satellite radio and podcasting are becoming more and more popular is because regular radio sucks, not because it’s easier to “steal” music. Who wants to listen to some lame Morning Zoo DJ who can’t play unedited versions of popular songs and has to be very carefull what he or she says followed by 20 minutes of commercials? Any attempt to restrict satellite radio and podcasting will result in more restrictions. Indecency doesn’t apply yet, but they gotta start somewhere.
