PLUS… for no extra cost, you get the satisfaction of knowing you’re not producing any more toxic waste or helping Oprah open a new wing on her $850K dog house! Isn’t that grand!

So forget the ipod. You don’t need that crap. Donate here directly and have some real compassion, not bullshit consumerist faux feeling programmed crap. Start re-learning your humanity and unlearning your Oprah-Bono shopping guilt.

P.S. there are tons of other mp3 players that are much cheaper. Does anyone know which ones are not made in v-china?

The problem is, most of everything is made in China. Creative was founded in Singapore in 1981, but, that doesn’t mean that they don’t use Chinese labor. I’m sure they do since it is cheap.

Don’t forget about those companies that house the employees and don’t pay them hardly anything and make them live in employee housing and they have to pay for that as well.

  Mexico is not nearly as bad as China… not by a landslide. For one, Mexico is not a communist cuntry that imprisons people for doing yoga in parks and then executes them and takes their organs away and sells them to fat alcoholic businessmen and Wanda Wisdom.

I agree one should donate directly for a charity. However, if they were going to make a special iPod anyway, it’s great some is donated. Plus, your getting money from people that never would have donated anyway. If you want to be a consumer of electronics, you could do worse than Apple for social responsibility. No responsible co-ops have begun manufacturing electronics, they should!

As for labor, I doubt you’ll find a union made mp3 player anytime soon, made in Japan might be your best bet. China is bad and so is Mexico for labor, neither is really better from what I understand. As for oppression in Mexico being less, ask the people of Chiapas where there was a massive massacre not long ago.
