Chicago’s Mayor Daley is done. He isn’t serving the people. He recently vetoed the revolutionary “big box” bill that would give living wages to big retail workers.

My goodness chicken… I aint never seen someone so would up by a bit of old machinery 😉 You need to start smoking or something to relax a bit more babe

Somebody please get Andy Melton a fucking Mac, so he can stop going on and on about not being able to use iTunes and this one time when he wanted to try Boot Camp and he went to the Apple Store and he wanted to boot into Windows and the assistant showed him but didn’t know much about it and it was running Norton AntiVirus and the assistant told him he couldn’t take a picture but let him take one anyway and what harm would it do because a one-button mouse would take some getting used to but he didn’t realise he was using a Mighty Mouse honestly the guy seemed to be a total MAC FANATIC and that the Rosetta emulation was slow and he forgot to try out the keyboard and they didn’t have Parallels desktop installed and the assistant was sweating because he was afraid Andy would sit on his face he’d have to hook up a USB mouse because of a flat Apple Store assistant in Knoxville.

So, somebody do that and save me from the 1,500 word rants that I’m supposed to give a fuck about. Thank you. 😉

Subject: Explaining my Apple hatred

OK, so today I had to do some shopping and I had to go all the way to Knoxville. Now, I don’t go to Knoxville that often, in fact, it has probably been over a year since I have been to Knoxville, it may have even been longer…in fact, I think it was, I think its been two years. In the time that I haven’t been to Knoxville, an Apple Computer store has opened up in the West Towne Mall, I thought since I was over there I’d go in and have a look around since I don’t get out much and I haven’t seen or touched an Apple computer in YEARS. The last time was in high school. As you know, since then, the Intel Macs have came out and I’ve been wanting one and itching to get to see one hands on, so, anyways, I went in there and a guy asked if I needed any help and I told him “No, I’m just looking around.” I realized that I had my camera in my pocket and I thought I’d take a picture of the MacBook Pro and the iPod that was connected to it. I took the picture, well, you know how I am, I took about 3 of it. I put the camera into my pocket, no harm done I thought. I heard the guy who asked me if I needed help earlier talking about Boot Camp and Parralels and after he had finished his conversation with the other customer I asked him if Linux could run on Boot Camp, I was curios and had not heard a definite answer anywhere. He said NO, that he wasn’t sure but there was probably a hack online. I then asked him if there was a demo of Parallels in the store and he said “No, but there is a demo of Boot Camp” and I asked if I could see it. We walked over to a very nice iMac, it was one of the larger ones. I asked him if he cared if I took a picture while he demonstrated it to me. He said “No, you’re not allowed to do that.” I honestly thought he was joking and I already had my camera out, I took a picture and he said, “I’ll have to ask my manager if thats ok.” SO, he went and asked his manager and he came back and said that “NO, its Apple’s policy, you’re not allowed to do that.” SO, I put my camera away and he continued with his demonstration (I’ll get to that in a moment). I WAS INFURIATED. SERIOUSLY. I don’t get out much, this was my FIRST trip to an Apple store and ALL I wanted to do was take a picture of the blasted computer with Windows running on it. I KNOW, Its kind of silly, I can look it up online and look at it, I can look at videos online, but the photographer in me wanted a picture of it. WHY WOULD IT HAVE HURT ANYTHING. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE explain it to me! I DO NOT GET IT! WHAT WOULD IT HAVE HURT? WHY IS APPLE TRYING TO KEEP PEOPLE FROM TAKING PICTURES OF THEIR MACHINES?! Seriously, since I have left the Apple store, I was infuriated. For one thing, it made me feel like a criminal when he said that it wasn’t allowed. I was almost afraid to leave the store, afraid they’d want to see the other pictures I had taken, afraid they’d tell me they’d have to keep my camera. I was sweating and it TRULY bothered me. TRULY. I HONESTLY FELT LIKE A CRIMINAL FOR TAKING A PICTURE! I DIDN’T STEAL ANYTHING, ALL I DONE WAS TAKE A PICTURE, OR WANT TO TAKE A PICTURE! I’m sorry, but that SERIOUSLY bothered me and I know I keep saying it over and over, but it really did.

Ok, let me try to get over this so I can tell you about his demonstration of Boot Camp.

So, he rebooted the Mac and while he rebooted it he said “This is one of the downsides to Boot Camp, you have to reboot the machine to get into Windows.” Well, yeah, DUH. I KNOW, I KNOW, thats the corporate spill, he’s suppose to say that, he doesn’t know that I know how to dual boot between Windows, Linux, BSD and MANY others already. The machine reboots and I SWEAR, it takes quite a bit of time for the machine to reboot into Windows, it takes it a while for it to login and go to a desktop. I then saw the culprit in the system tray, Norton AntiVirus. Whenever it is installed onto a system, it takes a bit of time for a machine to login, I hate Norton and so do most other people who put anti virus software onto his computer. Norton then popped up one of its annoying “Please update notices” and I said “Those are really annoying” and then of course he goes into his little spill about how “Macs don’t need anti virus software.” This guy was TRULY a Mac FANATIC! He then let me play around with Windows on the Mac to get a feel for it. It was ok, I could probably get use to it. The only thing that would take some time getting use to is the Mighty Mouse. NOW, I do have to say something about the Mighty Mouse, when I first set my hands on it, I honestly did not realize it was a mighty mouse and I started to click around and right click and it didn’t seem any different, then I realized it was a mighty mouse and it made me think more about it, when I thought about it, I didn’t like it, it just felt different…but, it could have had something to do with the fact that I FELT LIKE A CRIMINAL! I asked him a couple of questions, I asked him whether the iSight worked in Windows now, I asked him if all the Mac devices showed up in the control panel…that is when I KNEW he was a Mac Fanatic because he said “I don’t know much about Windows, you’re more than welcome to look though.” I didn’t look around because I didn’t want to open up device manager and feel even more like a criminal.

After he had gave me a demonstration, I looked at a MacBook, wasn’t really impressed, I was still aggravated and scared I was going to be harassed about the pictures and FORGOT to try out the keyboard on them. I was curios as to how it felt while typing. The MacBook Pro’s keyboard felt OK. Oh, and another thing about the MacBook Pro, it would SERIOUSLY take some time for me to get use to the one button mouse, I’d definitely have to hook up a USB mouse, it really just felt funny to me. I guess maybe it would just take some time.

After I looked at the MacBook I went over and looked at some iPods & accessories and some of the software they have in back, I figured since I had never been in a Mac store I’d better look around and see everything. I then went and looked at an Intel iMac, it was the smaller 17″ model. I opened Photoshop Elements on it, which took an EXTREMELY long time to load! I also opened up PhotoBooth for about two seconds, you know, JUST TO SEE what all the fuss is about.

I then left, luckily I didn’t get harassed, but everytime I passed by there, I didn’t look in, I tried to avoid walking right in front of the store. IT REALLY BOTHERED ME and PISSED me off!!!

I’m sorry I’m lost, why would anyone want to use Linux on a Mac when Mac is the better shell? And what’s the point of getting iSight to run on boot camp? Presumably the kernels will just recognize the devise.
Andy’s is not only criminal he’s deviant!

iSight news: I’ve found a site that you can use the iSight camera and mic on: my profile on stickam

Is there an iSight codec for Skype yet?

It’s true, Ms. Babe. These are things that folks need to know in order to fully participate in society. I was mortified, of course, when Madge first suggested the idea of a dirty dictionary on air to me, but after months of soul searching – and a little research – I realized this is something people need. So perhaps we can petition iTunes? If enough of the gentle listenturds clamor, who knows? Maybe Steve Hand Jobs will capitulate.

I’m downloading a TV Show right now, I’ve been doing this for the past hour or so and It’s analyzing the frile, supposedly. And while I download it won’t play music or let me do anything and I when I plug in the iPod nothing happens. I hate the new iTunes!

Sorry, Andy – but most companies do not allow photographs inside the store without corporate permission. Even fast food places do not allow you to. (McDonalds, Taco Bell, Etc) It’s company policy, not necc. Apple being jerks.
