I really need to figure out a way to run Avid Xpress Pro on the MacBook Pro. It runs now under Windows but there is a huge problem. The video goes black when it’s in motion. I’ve googled and searched extensively but can find no solution. Anyone who can get this working for me gets to eat my ass out.

Try turning the graphics hardware acceleration off on your computer, looks like a DirectX issue. I forget how to do that. Use Google.
Tried it. Don’t work. Thanks, though.
I don’t know, that may work but it seems as though she would need the full video acceleration since she is working with video. BUT, Its worth a try. The video hardware acceleration is under the Display Properties, Settings, Advanced and then troubleshoot, from there, there is a slider.
You’ve probably already saw this, but just in case you haven’t…There is a thread that says that if you don’t want to see what you are ediiting, then you can use Avid:

I’ll keep looking, see if I can help you find something else. Even though I don’t have a MacBook Pro or Avid π
Yes, I did see it but I do like to see what I’m editing. After all, it IS video. π
I’m curious, I wonder if Windows Movie Maker would work. I know you can’t use it as far as publishing your videos, just wondering if its a problem with ALL video or just certain applications.
My GOD! Are you SICK?
I have other apps that work, like premiere but I prefer avid. Thanks, though.
Sick? No, I seem to be doing ok today. No fever or anything. Little bit tired though. π Thanks for asking π Love ya!
Madge, I copied and pasted your question onto the CNET forums and I got the same response everywhere. Call tech support, which, I KNOW, is probably not going to help, any, at all…

i hate to tell you, but go back to a real mac or a real pc. Avid runs on bot, but the hybrid need a universal binary, somthing thats not forthcoming for Premiere, AVX, or FCP.
Gee, thanks.
