Was Chauncey watching television in the background? lol

Something I don’t understand is how people can read the Bible, which has poetry in it, take the Bible and tell someone they are wrong about something…when its poetry. BUT, not take other poetry out of other books and have the same feelings.

I also forgot to mention that I am so thankful that I had a teacher (in high school) that discussed the Bible in a way that allowed us as students to see some of the stupidity of people’s actions in using the Bible. (ok, don’t know if that made sense, but whatever)

No, it made perfect sense. Which I could say the same! In my high school [which I only graduated a year ago], we had fire-and-brimestone-esque lectures about how we are all going to hell for breathing.

All of the other teachers at my school, not all of them, but most of them despised this man for his intellect and his teachings. But, the man has been there for YEARS, I am 20 years old and he taught my parents and was teaching for a long time then! BUT, One thing I especially loved and will always remember him saying was no matter what the problem, a priest will take care of you, as long as you drop a quarter in his pail.

It takes more than a quarter now, honey! 🙂 Inflation has set in…yeah, that’s it! Inflation. I went to a Catholic school (in the ’70s!), and I, too, watched normally sane and lucid people flip out over the dumbest shit. I got lectured for bringing a Captain & Tennille* record to school for “arts” time (when we were normally allowed to bring music from home).

(*Did I mention this was the ’70s?)

coming from a very religious background, i find what she had to say very informative. i actually had heard some of it, but she broke it more down elaborately than i ever could have. brava!
