Please, audience, help spread the word. This situation is getting even further out of control.
THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY IS NOT ALLOWING THE RED CROSS INTO THE DISASTER AREA TO DELIVER FOOD.
PLEASE spread the word about this horrible administration destroying our country. It could not be any more urgent to impeach these rotten parasites. WE MUST DO SOMETHING! I don’t know what, other than to demand impeachment.
Please research and report: ask and tell.
Wake America from it’s slumber of cumfort, PLEASE

The reason that Homeland Security does not want the Red Cross to come into New Orleans is because it is removing all persons from the city. The purpose is to totally evacuate the city of all residents so that clean-up crews can begin their work. The Red Cross can deliver food to them in Houston or whereever they are being moved by Homeland Security. In the meantime they get water and food from Homeland Security.
I think they should at least be let in. If the Red Cross can help get people out – all the better. Let them in to document what they can and look to see what they can do to help. It doesn’t do anyone any good by keeping them out.
The Red Cross does not do search and rescue. Read their statement on their site. Infectious deseases are increasing. Why expose even more people to further disaster needlessly? There are many other places to do their work than in NO.
Just a few thoughts:
1. This is the first national crisis since the creation of the department of Homeland Security. They were, on every level, unprepared/unable to deal with this disaster. Even the President publicly criticized the slow, inadequate response of the federal government.
2. The International Red Cross (IRC) is recognized as one of the best humanitarian organizations in the world, with over 140 years of invaluable crisis-response experience. The IRC champions the rights/needs of women and children in war zones, like the Middle East, where they have worked with Jewish and Arab groups since 1948. Some of the organizations working with the IRC include: Interpol, United Nations, Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), European Union, North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), African Union (AU) and the Organization of Islamic Conference.
3. Other instances in which the IRC was denied access: Bosnian War Camps (Manjaca and Omarska) and the current U.S. war in Iraq just to name two in the past decade.
4. The current administration has clashed with the IRC in the past, including (but not limited to) disputes over international treaties and conventions (like Geneva), war tribunals, the protocol surrounding (American) prisoners of war and (you saw this one coming) humanitarian access to detainees/survivors in war and natural disaster zones.
5. The Homeland Security department’s broad, unchecked authority (which compromises our basic constitutional rights) was supposedly granted to protect and provide in cases of overwhelming tragedy. This has been an interesting little poli-sci experiment, but I think I’d like my government back, thank you!
Madge (as usual) is right. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE. And we can start by spreading the word – each and every one of us.
If you actually read the Red Cross web site, you will see it says “state Homeland Security Department”, which turns out to be the Louisiana Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, under the Louisiana Military Department, which reports to the governor of Louisiana. Not the Federal Homeland Security Department or FEMA at all.
Madge and gentle audience,
I have posted a generic letter requesting impeachment on my web site that you can cut and paste into a letter or form to send to your Congressional representatives. Wanted to make it easy for people. Also instructions on how to find your reps if you don’t know who they are. Here’s the permalink.
