ipodderx is driving me CrAzY!

This fucking thing keeps downloading all podcasts for feeds OVER and OVER again, which is killing my bandwidth and making less available for my web server. What other osx podcatcher can I use without having to re-enter all of my feeds? I’ve checked the ipodderx support forum and they know about this problem but don’t have a fix yet. I need more coffee. I like ipodderx and will switch back to it once it’s fixed, but I need something right away.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: It is apparant that several gentle listeners are using the incorrect (older) feed. The correct yeastradio.com feed is:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/yeastradio

It seems that it’s a case of feast or famine, darling Madge. On my Powerbook, iPodderx hasn’t picked up your show for two days. It had been grabbing it almost flawlessly for over two weeks before that. Waah!

I’m looking forward to hearing suggestions for an alternative.

I use NetNewsWire which is perfect for my needs, love to have all feeds in one program… I did install AntnotTV, maybe you can use this for now, does import/export of feeds…

I whish you could just get the feeds directly in iTunes … 🙂

I’ve been having the same problems as Mizez, ipodder on my work machine hasn’t downloaded the show for days. However, at home it comes thru fine. This program is great on intentions, but lacking in delivery.

Madge,

If iPodderX can export OPML, you can easily move over to NetNewswire by importing your subscription file there. I’ve also been happily using the beta for some time.

i use playpod.

it’s a pretty cool aggregator and doesn’t cost alot. you’ll be warned that it is “in development” but let me say that even with the occasional bug updates- it’s still alot easier to use and has features that at least i know were “duh” features that ipodderx and poddumfeeder, etc either don’t have or are just plain too opaque to be used. one that i like alot is a “play and browse feature”(easy to use), you can listen to a whole podcast without downloading! that was the seller for me- i don’t download any longer. rss feed support, scheduling of updates and downloads-anyway-free demo, i say the heck with ipodderx and the rest.

IpodderX keeps on deleting all the feeds I’ve added to it. I start it up and it just sits there completely empty. Winer sabotaged it.

I’m sticking with ipodderx. I am a lesbian and therefore I stick with what I pay for. The developer cuntacted me right after my post and is anxious to solve the problem. I just haven’t had a chance to cuntact him back. I like the software and it worked for a while. I especially like (and need) the way it cuntverts mp3’s to bookmarkable aac’s. That’s priceless turd me.

I have been using PlayPod and like it much better than iPodderX. One feature that I really like that is missing from iPodderX is the ability to make folders for feeds. Also, PlayPod will update feeds without downloading them. There are still some bugs (still in beta), but the interface is more Mac oriented. Also, it is just easier to use than ipodderX.

iPodderX is broken, badly. People with lots of subscribed feeds and little disc space are seeing their hard drives fill up. It’s no fun

I paid for iPodderX but ditched it last night for all the same reasons and exported my IPX OPML feed data to NetNewsWire 2.0b22 beta, which handles things really well so far.

You can set up the NNW preferences to automatically dump sound files into iTunes and delete them from the NNW downloads folder. Or not. You can also set the preferences to manually download each file individually as you check through the latest ones.

It’s also a really great pure RSS aggregator for OSX.

I like pod2go for moving text files onto my iPod– it’s kind of like a very basic AvantGo, where you can dump html pages into Palm– but the way it handles podcasts is a little too plain-Jane for me.
I like it.
