  Oh fuck. What a bunch of bullshit. Spend $200 on a a piece of shit that was made in a sweat shop in China by abused workers- which sets up a whole other set of problems. Then you have a bunch of cuntsumers who just THINK they spent $200 to cure AIDS in Africa (for women and children of course- they’re innocent after all, even though they’re black), thus relievcing what tiny bit of guilt their two dimential TV-based conscience affords them. Meanwhile, only $5.00 actually goes to this global charity for thusandso and god knows how much of that acutally goes to help the people with AIDS. A liberal estimate would be 50%- or $2.50 max. Oprah has a $850,000 dog house.
  
  So there you have it. Some asshole spends their $200 which they normally donate to charity to buy a shitty blood red ipod which helps enslave the chinese people and at the same time relieves their guilt and they get to wear it proudly to show people how much they care about BLACK PEOPLE and AIDS and WOMEN at the SAME TIME!   $10 is not enough! Apple is fucking RICH! They charge a god dammed arm and a leg for their computers, they can afford to give more! They shouldn’t create a SPECIAL iPod just for a charity. They should give $10 of every iPod sale! If that can’t be done, AT LEAST take $10 from every iPod shuffle sell. Think about it, you give it to someone as a Christmas gift and they feel good because part of their gift went to help starving children or whatever.
  
  Here is the other part that offends me. I might be wrong on this, but, why aren’t more people doing things for people in THIS cuntry!?

  Though I didn’t see the piece on Oprah, I can’t help but think of the series “The Century of the Self” that Richard posted on Insane films. Though I respect your opinion, Ragan, once you watch that it kind of jades you in a way that makes it pretty hard to trust Bono, Oprah or Apple.
  
  If you haven’t seen “The Century of the Self” yet, Ragan, being a PhD in communications, you will probably find it very interesting. I think you’d appreciate it. BTW, I carry that series around on my video iPod — but mine is black — like my evil soul. Forgive me Richard.

Thanks for the thanks and the thanks on Insane Films too even though I send catty emails and write 1,000 word comments. Meow.

I really understand where you’re coming from about Apple and how horrible that feels. I see the Inside Politics section on the US iTunes page (you didn’t imagine it) and couldn’t help but notice there are only two, er, pagelets for Democrats and four for Republicunts. I was glad to see Democracy Now on the commentary, at least.

I’m also glad I’m not the only one who can smell Bono’s bullshit, there’s that “rich person needs to feel better so goes around patronising everyone else” thing going on, IMO. I think Africa needs help but they would do well to check that money really reaches the people who need it. So many charity organisations have something like an 80% – 90% administrative overhead it’s shocking.

The West just seems to pour money into Africa for it to get pocketed by dodgy regimes, while with stuff like RED or Make Poverty History, fat corporations capitalise on Western compassion, or is it guilt, or is it fashion. And it’s the fashion part that really pisses me off. People in China have it bad, North Korea even worse but it’s not cool to care about those places, so nobody does shit.

Great music as always. I think it’s incredible that Andy Melton’s guitar solo couldn’t be drowned out by an orchestra, Animal from the Muppets on drums, a black woman singing gospel, etc. Andy, you’re a star.

To answer your initial question – getting a deep tissue massage can be painful depending on how tight or loose the muslces are. As to whether it is similar to being an S&M bottom is beyond my personal experience to comment on.
